What we teach

Five ways to get licensed, and one instructor for all of them

Every learner arrives from somewhere different. A nervous seventeen year old, a driver with twenty years of experience overseas, someone who has failed a VORT twice. The pathway changes. The one-to-one approach does not.

Most popular

CBT&A logbook training

Competency Based Training and Assessment. Your Authorised Examiner signs off each task as you demonstrate it, so there is no pass or fail moment at the end.

Meet your instructor

Gopi has been teaching Adelaide to drive since 2006

Read the reviews and one word keeps coming back: patient. Twenty years in, with a background in automobile engineering, Gopi has seen every mistake a learner can make. None of them are worth raising a voice over.

  • Teaching since 2006. 20 years of driver training in South Australia.
  • Automobile engineering background. A mechanical understanding of the vehicle, not just the road rules.
  • Authorised Examiner for CBT&A. Able to assess and sign off the 30 competency tasks directly.
  • 5.0 stars from 72 Google reviews. Not a single review below five stars at the time of writing.
  • One-to-one instruction only. The same instructor every lesson, with training adapted to how you learn.
  • Automatic and manual. Both transmissions taught and assessed.

I had a great experience learning with Gopi. He is very patient, friendly, and explains everything in a simple way. His guidance helped me build confidence and pass my driving test on the first attempt.
Basil EldhoseFirst attempt pass
Absolutely the best instructor in Adelaide, I know this because I have had many instructors before him. He really works hard to make sure you succeed, excellent teaching ability, and a positive attitude.

I can't thank Gopi Sir enough for all the support and patience he showed during my driving lessons, especially while I was in my 9th month of pregnancy. His calm demeanor and clear guidance made it possible.
Mina PrajapatPatience and support
I did my overseas licence conversion through CBT&A with Gopi and got the full SA driver's licence. Gopi was an excellent teacher, kind, respectful, and patient throughout the entire process.

Excellent instructor! Gopi really knows his stuff. Lots of tips and tricks which got my confidence up. Passed my CBT&A with an Auditor in the car on the first try!

Gopi was incredibly helpful in getting my P's. In the session right before the exam, he helped correct mistakes quickly and efficiently.

Where we teach

Driving lessons across Adelaide

Pickup from home, work or uni is usually fine anywhere in the service areas. Not sure whether your suburb is covered? Send a message and ask.

Adelaide CBD and inner suburbs

Tight one-way grids, tram lines, cyclists and constant lane changes. Inner Adelaide is where most learners lose marks, so it is where most of the training time goes.

  • Adelaide CBD
  • North Adelaide
  • Norwood
  • Unley
  • Prospect
  • Parkside
  • Hindmarsh

Northern suburbs

Wide arterials, high speed limits and long merges. Good ground for building confidence early, and for practising the road positioning the test actually scores.

  • Salisbury
  • Salisbury East
  • Mawson Lakes
  • Para Hills
  • Gepps Cross
  • Pooraka
  • Ingle Farm

Western suburbs

Port Road, heavy freight traffic and a lot of unmarked intersections through the older street grids. Excellent for hazard perception practice.

  • Port Adelaide
  • Woodville
  • Henley Beach
  • Findon
  • Seaton
  • West Lakes
  • Fulham

Eastern suburbs

Hills approaches, gradients, roundabouts and some genuinely awkward give-way geometry. Where hill starts and downhill control get sorted.

  • Campbelltown
  • Tea Tree Gully
  • Magill
  • Paradise
  • Newton
  • Burnside
  • Glen Osmond

Southern suburbs

Anzac Highway and Marion Road carry heavy traffic most of the day, the tram line through Glenelg adds a layer of attention at crossings, and the area has more roundabouts than anywhere else Gopi teaches. Marion marks the southern edge of the service area.

  • Marion
  • Mitcham
  • Brighton
  • Glenelg
  • Somerton Park
  • Plympton

Common questions

Everything people ask before booking

What is the difference between CBT&A and the VORT?

CBT&A is the logbook method. You work through 30 competency tasks and your Authorised Examiner signs each one off as you demonstrate it, so there is no pass or fail moment. The VORT is a single assessed drive after 75 logged supervised hours, where you need 90 percent or better and no road law breaches. CBT&A suits people who do not perform well under test pressure. The VORT suits confident drivers who would rather get it done in one sitting.

Do you teach automatic or manual?

Both. Most learners now choose automatic, which is completely reasonable. Be aware that if you are assessed in an automatic, your licence carries an automatic-only condition until you complete a manual assessment.

Which parts of Adelaide do you cover?

The CBD and inner suburbs, the northern suburbs, the western suburbs, the eastern suburbs and the southern suburbs as far as Marion. Send a message with your suburb and you will get a straight answer.

Can you pick me up from home, work or uni?

Usually yes, within the service areas. Say where you need to be picked up from when you message and it gets sorted before the first lesson.

How many lessons will I need?

Nobody can answer that honestly before seeing you drive. After the first assessment lesson you will get a realistic estimate rather than a number designed to sound appealing.

How do I book?

The quickest way is the WhatsApp booking form on this site, which sends Gopi your training path, transmission, suburb and preferred timing in one message. Calling or texting 0423 457 296 works just as well.

Ready when you are

Four taps and Gopi has your pathway, transmission, suburb and preferred timing. Most enquiries get a reply the same day.
